Small primates known as squirrel monkeys live in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. It is active both during the day and at night, darting across the forest floor on all fours while scurrying between tree branches in the jungle understory to avoid being eaten by falcons circling the canopy. Due to their social nature, squirrel monkeys frequently form troops with at least 30 members. These omnivorous monkeys are the woodland creatures of the jungle, much like capuchins. They consume a variety of fruits and insects, with lizards, leaves, flowers, nectar, and buds rounding out their diet. In the months of prosperity, from May through October, capuchins and squirrel monkeys may hunt together.
