Day 1: The day begins with a flight to Baltra Island in the morning and an instant exchange to the port to board Yacht La Pinta. A friendly introduction, boat test, cabin assignment, and lunch follow. Weāll go to South Plaza Island in the afternoon. South Plaza is a great place for hiking and snorkeling. A little after the landing, visitors may encounter a Sea Lion colony laying on the beach as well as Marine Iguanas that usually are expelling salt water out from their noses. In order to reach the plateau of the cliffs, the route continues up a gradual incline. With significant seabird populations, this location is ideal for bird enthusiasts. Blue-footed and Nazca boobies build their nests here while fishing in the waters below, which are nutrient-rich. Shearwaters, tropical birds, and swallow-tailed gulls are also frequently seen.
Day 2: You will go to Santa Fe Island in the morning. We will take a panga over to this enchanting sandy-white beach teeming with sea lion colonies. After lunch, we depart in the provincial capital of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and end up driving 40 minutes to the island’s southern shore. We go to Cerro Colorado to see the breeding center for the critically endangered giant tortoises. By the end of the day, you’ll have some spare time in town.
Day 3: You will go to Punta Pitt in the morning. We willĀ arrive at the eastern tip of San Cristobal Island. The path that rises from the beach offers stunning scenery of the coastline; we can see frigates and a colony of bachelor sea lions. Just after lunch on board, we take a panga ride along the coasts of tuff-stone tiers to Cerro Brujo’s increasingly broad, white coral beach, which is ideal for hiking and has rewarding bird-watching with seabirds and coast birds.
Day 4: Morning excursion to Punta Suarez includes a thrilling walk on lava/boulder landscape to tour its distinctive seabird colonies, which include waved albatrosses (which can be seen from early April to early January), boobies, swallow-tailed gulls, and the famous “blowhole” lava creation. Back on the boat for lunch. We arrived at Gardner Bay’s beautiful white coral beach in the afternoon. There is excellent snorkeling in this area, and there is also time to kayak or ride the crystal boat.
Day 5: On this day, we visit the Charles Darwin Research Station and the giant tortoise captive culturing program. We travel by bus across Santa Cruz Island and then by ferry to Baltra. Our journey comes to an end on Baltra Island, where we move to the airport for our flight back to the mainland.
