La Selva Amazon Lodge is located within Ecuador ‘s YasunĆ Biosphere Reserve and bordering the famous YasunĆ National Park. La Selva Lodge Ecolodge and Spa was one of the first Amazon rainforest lodges in Ecuador and is still considered the premier Ecolodge in the area. La Selva Amazon Ecolodge has 19 spacious and beautiful suites, including three Scenic Suites overlooking Lake Garzacocha and four spacious family suites for people bringing their children on their incredible adventure. Each suite includes exclusive rainforest showers, private balconies and breathtaking panoramic views. On the other hand, the family suites include extra-large bathrooms, hammocks and a bathtub on a private porch of the suite.
La Selva Amazon Lodge also has a beautiful luxury restaurant and bar. Day 1 Journey to La Selva Lodge in motorized canoe from Coca. Afternoon trek along the Matapalo Trail to see 400-year old trees.
Day 2 Early morning bird watching from the canopy observation tower. Trek to Mandicocha Lagoon to look for giant otters. Afternoon trek on the Charapa Trail for wildlife spotting. Nocturnal canoe ride and star-gazing.
Day 3 Morning visit to the parrot clay licks, followed by cultural trip to Mandi Wasi community center to learn about Kichwa culture. Afternoon canoe ride to Garzacocha Lake to search for howler monkeys & birds. Night walk in the forest.
Day 4 Breakfast, check-out and return to Coca city.

Day 1: Fly to Coca City from Quito International Airport and take a motorized canoe for about two hours down the river to La Selva Ecolodge. A paddle canoe will be used to complete the journey’s last section. Following a brief welcome, you can eat lunch and take a stroll along the Matapalo Trail, so named in honor of the 400-year-old trees that can be seen there. Upon returning, a delicious dinner and some downtime are in store.
Day 2: A breakfast call in the morning. After a 20-minute walk, you’ll arrive at a 120-foot observation tower where local guides can help you spot the Amazon’s vibrant birds and even some primates. The native guide will show you native medicinal plants as you stroll along the Tucaneta Trail. After lunch, go back to the lodge, and then continue the activities by walking the Charapa Trail. Take a canoe ride at night to observe wildlife and the stars.
Day 3: Take a motorized canoe ride in the morning to the clay licks, where hordes of parrots and parakeets congregate to eat the richly mineralized soil. Visit Mandi Wasi, a community center run by Kichwa women, where they share their way of life and culture, to participate in a cultural activity after that. Continue your trip to Garzacocha Lagoon after lunch if you want to see howler monkeys, pygmy marmosets, and a variety of birds. After dinner, take a stroll at night and listen to the Amazon Jungle’s incredible sounds as it comes to life.
Day 4: A breakfast call in the morning. Leave the hotel and travel to Coca City for your next destination.

Day 4: The day starts with a stroll through a magnificent primary forest to reach Mandi Cocha lagoon, where you board a fiberglass canoe and paddle through the breathtaking Igapo Forest, a temporarily flooded black water forest. Various bird species can be seen here, and if you’re lucky, you might run into enormous otters. To see howler monkeys, pigmy marmosets, and a variety of birds like toucans or macaws, visit Garzacocha Lagoon after lunch. Then go on a nighttime walk to search for nighttime wildlife and nighttime Amazonian wildlife sounds.
Day 5: A breakfast call in the morning. Leave the hotel and travel to Coca City for your next destination.
