The Manatee Amazon Explorer has always been the pioneer in the Ecuadorian Amazon cruising. It is a 121-feet length and also has been sailing over 20 years in the Ecuadorian Oriente region. This cruise is wonderful and perfect for a family vacation expedition. One thing about The Manatee Amazon Explorer is that it is smaller than the Anakonda Cruise, still is a great and comfortable option to explore the biodiversity and remote Amazon places. The cruise has capacity for 30 people and has 14 spacious, air-conditioned with beautiful river view suites. All suites include floor-to-ceiling windows, exceptional views, private bathrooms and hot water showers. Inside the cruise there are four designated deluxe suites with their own whirlpool bathtubs, perfect for relaxing and spending quality time.

SATURDAY Navigation downstream to the PaƱacocha Reserve, a flooded forest ecosystem. Amazon-style BBQ lunch, and time to swim in the lake or kayak.
SUNDAY Morning visit to the YasunĆ parrot clay licks, followed by the Kichwa Cultural Center to learn about local traditions and customs. Late afternoon climb an observation tower for wildlife spotting and sunset views.
MONDAY Cruise navigation and motorized canoe ride back to Coca city for your flight back to Quito.

Day 1: Fly for 30 minutes from Quito to Coca. Following your landing, you will be taken to the dock where you will board a motorized canoe for the hour-and-a-half trip to the Manatee Amazon Explorer. In order to observe the forest’s nocturnal activity and experience the thrill of the vibrant sounds and aromas that come from so much biodiversity, we will immediately enter the Amazon after dinner by going for a nighttime forest walk.
Day 2: The Paayacu River delta is where we will take a canoe trip to see the sights of this fascinating water reserve. We continue traveling downstream to get there. The White Caiman, the Water Monkey Fish (Arawana), and Piranhas all thrive in this environment. Our local naturalist guides will lead us on nature hikes in this secluded area, and we’ll unwind at a campsite nearby with a delicious BBQ prepared in the style of the Amazon and cool drinks. Following lunch, we’ll go kayaking.
Day 3: We’ll launch our canoes this morning to travel to the Parrot Clay Licks, one of the most amazing sights this side of the Western Amazon. This unusual location is mineral-rich and daily draws hundreds of vibrant parrots, parakeets, and amazon birds. After that, we’ll go to a Quechua Cultural Center to learn more about Amazonian communities, their ancestors’ cultures, customs, and food.
Day 4: After enjoying the last leg of our return trip on board, get off the Manatee Amazon Explorer and board the motorized canoe to return to Coca (one-and-a-half-hour ride).

In order to observe the forest’s nocturnal activity and experience the thrill of the vibrant sounds and aromas that come from so much biodiversity, we will immediately enter the Amazon after dinner by going for a nighttime forest walk.
Day 2: We’ll go to Yasuni National Park first thing in the morning. This area of the Ecuadorian Amazon is pristine and largely untouched. Along with anacondas, river turtles, different primate species, and the colorful Hoatzin, a rare bird that is locally known as the “Stinky Turkey,” we can also find anacondas in this region. We will go canoeing in a blackwater lake later in the afternoon, which is home to enormous otters and the magnificent but elusive manatee. Additionally, we’ll go for a relaxing hike in the Riparian/Gallery Forest.
Day 3: On the banks of the Napo River, we will begin the day by visiting an authentic Quechua family, where we will be immersed in the culture and have the chance to learn from locals firsthand. After lunch and some free time, we will board the Manatee Amazon Explorer to continue our journey upstream.
Day 4: Our visitors can unwind and enjoy the Manatee Amazon Explorer in the morning before stepping off to go for a walk through the nearby forest to see a variety of unique plant and animal species that are only found in the Amazon basin. We will go to a canopy tower in the late afternoon, which is situated next to a huge Kapok tree. This observation tower’s vantage point, towering above the lush treetops and offering a view of the utter vastness of the Amazon Basin, is truly magnificent. With the aid of our flashlights, we will bravely paddle into the river in the evening to look for black caimans.
Day 5: After enjoying the last leg of our return trip on board, get off the Manatee Amazon Explorer and board the motorized canoe to return to Coca (one-and-a-half-hour ride).

Blackwaters flood the ecosystem around Paacocha Lake. We’ll go kayaking after lunch, and the most daring among us will take a refreshing dip in Piranha Lake! It’s not as dangerous as it seems, we assure you! Our visitors will have the chance to attend a lecture given by our concierge and watch an educational documentary about the area once they are back on board the Manatee Amazon Explorer.
Day 3: We’ll paddle out in canoes this morning to see one of the most amazing sights this side of the Western Amazon. After that, we’ll go to a Quechua Cultural Center to learn more about Amazonian communities, their ancestors’ cultures, customs, and food. We will stop at an observation tower before dusk that offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the Amazon basin and is the ideal place for pictures! This excursion will be especially enjoyable for bird enthusiasts.
Day 4: One of the tributaries of the Napo River that takes us into Yasuni National Park is the Indillama River, and we will start the day by kayaking along it. You will be surrounded by lush vegetation in these waters. After a day of exploration, you might want to take advantage of our observation deck, where you can unwind and take in a breathtaking view at night. For relaxation, our more active visitors can go on a nighttime jungle hike to see nocturnal animals.
Day 5: We will go to Yasuni National Park in the morning. This area of the Ecuadorian Amazon is pristine and largely untouched. The fact that the fabled Pink River Dolphin calls this place home will make our visitors happy. We will go canoeing in a blackwater lake later in the afternoon, which is home to enormous otters and the magnificent but elusive manatee. We will also take a pleasant hike in the Riparian/Gallery Forest, where we may see a flock of birds and be amazed by the well-organized leaf-cutter ant colony.

Day 1: Fly for 30 minutes from Quito to Coca. Following your landing, you will be taken to the dock where you will board a motorized canoe for the hour-and-a-half trip to the Manatee Amazon Explorer. Our knowledgeable local naturalist guides will join us once we have settled into the Manatee Amazon Explorer and will give us a succinct and educational introduction to the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Day 2: We’ll go to Yasuni National Park first thing in the morning. This area of the Ecuadorian Amazon is pristine and largely untouched. We will go canoeing in a blackwater lake later in the afternoon, which is home to enormous otters and the magnificent but elusive manatee. We’ll also take a leisurely stroll through the Riparian/Gallery Forest, where we may see a flock of birds and be amazed by the intricate arrangement of a leaf-cutter ant colony beneath the “Giant Fig Tree,” a truly magnificent tree that, like the “Giant Kapok Tree,” is home to a wide variety of wildlife.

After lunch and some free time, we will board the Manatee Amazon Explorer to continue our journey upstream.
