The Napo Cultural Center Lodge is the main tourist offer in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Guests staying here enjoy a unique and complete experience full of wildlife, jungle and dazzling views. The lodge is located within Yasuni National Park, one of the richest places on Earth. The Napo Cultural Center lodge is environmentally friendly and offers the comfort of big, spacious cabins. The lodge has capacity for 48 people and has 16 cabins, in the form of little houses. Each cabin allows up to 3 guests. All of the materials used for the construction of the lodge invoke nature. All cabins are fully equipped with electricity, ventilation, water and private bathrooms. Also, all cabins have balconies with hammocks in them. There are twin bed cabins, standard cabins and matrimonial cabins.
Among the facilities the lodge includes, there is a restaurant which serves delicious, unique dishes; a bar and a souvenir shop. Since the lodge involves all kinds of environmentally friendly experiences, there are physical and spiritual experiences for people staying at the Napo Cultural Center Lodge.

Day 1: The journey starts in Coca City, where we board a motor boat to travel along the Napo River while keeping an eye out for local bird species until we reach the Napo Cultural Center Lodge. Enjoy a traditional and cooling “wayusa” upon arrival. After lunch, you hike along the Playas Trail in search of Amazonian wildlife, and the rest of the day offers the chance to go kayaking and take in the sunset over the Napo River’s vastness. Following dinner, unwind at the lodge.
Day 2: After breakfast, visit the women-run intercultural interpretation center “Kuri Muyu” to find out more about the kichwa way of life. After eating lunch in the community center’s dining room, head back there for a one-hour hike to the 35-meter observation tower, where you can see a variety of birds, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, parrots, and sloths. Backtrack to Napo Cultural Center through Anangu Creek in the afternoon to see more wildlife. Enjoy a traditional meal upon arrival called “maito,” which consists of grilled fish wrapped in a “bijao” leaf. Additionally, you can try the “chontakuru,” or grilled worms, if you want to experience something novel in your mouth.
Day 3: You can participate in the optional “wayusada” ritual with the kichwa family at 4:30 in the morning. This has been a method of transferring their historical knowledge to the following generations. During this mystical experience, you can share in the customary chants and have the opportunity to interpret your dreams. After finishing this activity, go back for breakfast before starting your journey back to Coca City.

Day 1: Travel from El Coca City through the Napo River to the Napo Cultural Center. You will be greeted by members of the kichwa Aangu community with a traditional and cool “wayusa.” After lunch, you can go on a hike along the Playas Trail to observe the wildlife of the Amazon, and the rest of the day you can go kayaking to take in the sunset over the vast Napo River. You have the remainder of the evening to rest after dinner.
Day 2: We leave for the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve’s highlight, where we can see a parrot clay lick along the Napo River, after a leisurely breakfast. The morning is concluded with a trip to the women-run intercultural interpretation center “Kuri Muyu,” where we learn about the kichwa way of life, culture, and traditional use of the environment. After dinner, we participate in a special activity on a catamaran where we hear local legends and chants.
Day 3: Visit the community’s sustainable projects after an early breakfast, and then take a stroll along Mama-Kuna Road for a great chance to see more local wildlife. After a delicious local lunch, we paddle through the Aangu stream in the afternoon to look for the endemic wildlife of the black water ecosystem. You’ll be served a traditional meal upon your return called maito, which consists of grilled fish wrapped in a “bijao” leaf. The grilled worms known as “chontakuru” are an interesting food to try if you want to experience something new. We’ll take a quick stroll around the lodge at night to spot nocturnal wildlife.
Day 4: You are welcome to participate in the optional “wayusada” ritual with the kichwa family in the early morning at around 4:30. This has served as a means of transferring their ancestors’ wisdom to the following generations. During this mystical experience, you can interpret your dreams and share the traditional chants. Return for breakfast after this activity, then start driving back to Coca City.

Day 1: After crossing the Napo River from El Coca City, we arrive at the Napo Cultural Center. You will be greeted by members of the kichwa Aangu community with a traditional and cool “wayusa.” After lunch, you can go on a hike along the Playas Trail to observe the wildlife of the Amazon, and the rest of the day you can go kayaking to take in the sunset over the vast Napo River. You have the remainder of the evening to sleep after dinner.
Day 2: Mama-kuna road and Aangu stream: After eating breakfast while the sun is rising, we tour the community’s sustainable development projects before taking a stroll along Mama-Kuna road, where there is a good chance to see local wildlife. After a quick lunch, you can paddle a canoe through the Aangu stream in the afternoon to see the endemic wildlife of the black water ecosystem. We take a night walk around the lodge after dinner to look for various insects, reptiles, and nocturnal mammals.
Day 3: We leave for the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve’s highlight, where we can see a parrot clay lick along the Napo River, after a leisurely breakfast. After about 30 minutes of walking along the Pericos Trail, we arrive at a spectacular clay lick where we can see up to 11 different species of parrots and parakeets. After dinner, we participate in a special activity on a catamaran where we hear local legends and chants.
Day 4: Samona trail: After a leisurely organic breakfast, an early morning hike to the terra-firme forest at “Samona” trail is scheduled. Here, you can see kapok trees, spot capuchin and saki monkeys, as well as some different species of birds and reptiles among the forest. Return to the ecolodge to enjoy a sumptuous lunch. We get ready for a traditional maito dinner when we get back, which consists of grilled fish wrapped in a “bijao” leaf. The grilled worms known as “chontakuru” are an interesting food to try if you want to experience something new.
Day 5: Early in the morning, we participate in the optional “wayusada” ritual with the kichwa family as a means of passing down their ancestors’ traditional knowledge to the next generation. During this mystical experience, you can participate in the customary chants and get the chance to have your dreams interpreted. We return for breakfast after this activity before starting our journey back to El Coca City.
